why commerce should be your stream !

Ever heard yourself or your pals getting thrashed by respective parents over Sharma Ji's son's mad dancing skills? Nah that doesn't happen, here in India academics is a big deal , almost whole of parent's 30s and 40s is oriented towards making sure their descendent gets the proper education. Only thing worse than the parent's continuous fear of their kids not doing well in life if they are not academically well equipped is that more often than wrong they turn out to be right.

But wait you are in 10th standard the last time your teacher asked you in front of whole class what you want to be in life, you had to say something, anything because you knew it would be a crime for a 15 year old to be not sure what to do in life so to that question you spit out the magical words " I want to be a doctor or an engineer "

The thing about taking science streams is that right after 2 years from your choice you"ll
be taking exams like JEE-Mains, NEET, etc, and they are no nuts which would crack themselves open without passion, hard work and ofcourse certainty so if you are not sure that science subjects are your niche or it doesn't excite you , I'll hopefully breaking some stereotypes will provide here why commerce is answer and not just the answer but the correct one !
  • You hit the restart button:  If by far none of the subjects have seemed interesting to you or no matter how many times you have tried to revive that lost battle in academics some aspect has always backstabbed you , you have come to the right place , with all new subjects Accountancy , Economics (no it's not what you studied in 10th standard) and business studies you begin a new journey and get the chance to begin everything from level 0.
  • The world beyond graduation: Sad thing is people have this perception that after standard 12 students have to complete graduation and that's what on which your career is dependent and that is completely rubbish, you have countless number of courses to pursue CA,CMA,CS,CFA,FRM,CIA,ACCA and many more and most of them have nothing to do with graduation & there are no singular examination like JEE/PMT/NEET etc. you can pursue whatever floats your boat and sounds interesting to you and have a promising career !
  • More subjects incoming: Well it doesn't end with just accountancy eco and business studies the higher level you go more interesting it gets Costing, Financial management, taxation, law, audit, etc. are just some names you are likely to meet in your academic quest I hope it does ring some bells, point being you never know which subject hits you off like it was just made for you!
  • No to college yes to great career: You don't have to invest neither money nor your precious three years towards any college degree, you can directly jump into professional courses as early as possible and get college degrees corollary to that, because let's get something straight in the end it's the professional courses (CA,CMA,CS, etc.) that'll give you the right opportunity for your dream career not B.COM. Here's a tip: An upcoming post is going to be about how you can complete and get rid of graduation in only 1 year by not even pursuing B.COM. directly, without going to any college hence saving three years of your life from draining it in graduation which will not at all help you in actually making a meaningful career.
  • No reservations except for hardwork:  There are no reservations for anyone in any professional course you choose to pursue be it CA/CMA/CS, any course your hardwork will be rewarded irrespective of any irrelevant reasons !
  • You are very less likely to hit a dead end: As I named earlier there are plenty of courses even better part is most of them are somehow field wise related what I mean to say is if you are pursuing one course if you loose interest or by any reason you wish not to pursue that course you will always have a course which requires a similar expertise(similar syllabus) to which you can switch over, never your efforts will be wasted undoubtedly you are very less likely to hit a dead end.
As an ending note I must say commerce stream is what ever you make it, it will be upto you! I hardly know anyone who regrets taking commerce but I hear countless stories about how people ended up taking science for absurd reason and curse themselves afterwards so if you are not sure about science I hope you now have enough reasons to consider commerce as the option !
